Instructions

ABSTRACT PREPARATION:

Please read the following guidelines thoroughly before preparing your abstract.  The scoring committee will not consider abstracts which have not been prepared in accordance with these instructions:

  1. Abstract Language: Abstracts must be submitted in English.
  2. Abstract Style: Please check your abstract carefully for typographical errors, misspellings, poor hyphenation, etc.  Abstracts will be reproduced exactly as submitted.  Any typing error will be visible on publication.
  3. Abstract Descriptors/Categories: Descriptors/Categories are provided in the Questionnaire section of the online submission program. These are used by the committee to classify abstracts for review.
  4. Title: The title should be brief, but long enough to identify clearly the nature of the abstract.
  5. Abstract Structure:
    • State the specific objective of the study
    • State the methods used, including statistical analysis.  If pertinent, state whether experiments were in vivo or in vitro; if in vivo, state whether animal was anaesthetized or unanaesthetized
    • Summarize results obtained in sufficient detail to enable review and classification of the abstract
    • State conclusions reached based on the results as they appear in the abstract
    • When experiments were performed on human subjects and local Ethical Committee approval was obtained, please indicate this in the abstract
    • Statements such as ‘results will be discussed’, or ‘data will be presented’ cannot be accepted
  6. Tables and Figures: Simple tables and figures may be included if they fit within the size constraints of the electronic program. Follow the instructions in the program for submitting figures and use the table formatting function for table preparation. PLEASE NOTE: Images will appear smaller according to journal specifications. Please make sure that your image is simple enough to be readable when printed.
