September 21-26 2009

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE ONLINE ABSTRACT FORM

1. All accepted abstracts will be published in their entirety in Clinical Toxicology.

2. If accepted for presentation at the meeting, the abstract will be published as entered into this program. However, the Editors of Clinical Toxicology reserve the right to edit any abstract.

3. Authors are expected to register for the NACCT and to present accepted abstracts (both platforms and posters) at the NACCT.

4. Evaluation of abstracts will be based on the following considerations:

For Studies
:

· Originality - Is the idea unique? Does it offer a new perspective on a previous idea?

· Methods - Were the methods described? How reliable and valid are the methods used?  Were the methods previously validated, if appropriate?

· Analysis - Were the data properly analyzed, with appropriate statistical methods if necessary?

· Results - Are the results well described and plausible?

· Conclusions - Were appropriate and valid conclusions presented? Is there an alternative, valid interpretation of the data that was not discussed?

· Writing - Is the abstract presented in a well-organized, clear and understandable fashion?

For Cases:

· Originality - Is the case unique? Does it offer a new perspective on a previous observation?

· Validity - Is there reasonable corroborating evidence (not just self report) or laboratory confirmation (e.g. a tissue concentration)?

· Conclusions - Were appropriate and valid conclusions presented? Is there an alternative, valid interpretation of the data that was not discussed?

· Writing - Is the abstract presented in a well-organized, clear and understandable fashion?

5. Abstracts submitted to the incorrect category and abstracts that fail to deidentify will be graded as submitted and subsequently at risk for rejection; such error(s) will not be accepted as a reason for appeal.

6. The abstract receipt deadline, April 1, 23:59 PM, EDT (Eastern Daylight Savings Time), will remain firm and any abstracts received after the deadline will not be accepted.

7. Submitted abstracts may be withdrawn by sending an email to NACCT Changes, pburrage@marathonmultimedia.com, with your submission confirmation number no later than 23:59 PM EDT, Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Request must be submitted by the contact author.
